A little more perspective
401 unchanged 75-meter raster cell centers along a 30-kilometer section. Depth is negative raster elevation. No interpolation, missing-cell filling, datum transformation or vertical exaggeration. Straight segments connect measured cells; they are not additional soundings. The section reaches 10820.15625 meters at -23.266430°, -174.742005°. Stored decimals preserve the raster value, not centimeter accuracy. Both ends remain underwater.
The Five Deeps study reports 10,816 ± 16 meters at Horizon Deep, the second-deepest ocean location in that study. The published analysis and this archived grid are separate results. Neither the profile nor its vertical datum has been adjusted to force agreement. The acquisition report identifies EGM96 as its geoid reference.
Horizon Deep lies east of Tonga. The displayed section runs south to north along a single survey-grid column. Its ends are underwater survey boundaries, not coastlines.
