1. Using What’s Taller?

I am Ishan Karunaratne, the operator of What’s Taller? at whatstaller.com, based in New Jersey, United States. This is a free visual comparison tool for a general audience interested in learning, research, and curiosity. These terms describe the conditions for using the service and the permissions I offer for my content.

Use the service in accordance with these terms and applicable law. Nothing here takes away rights that applicable law gives you.

2. Free to learn, copy, and share

To the extent I hold the necessary rights, I grant you a free, worldwide, non-exclusive permission to copy, print, annotate, and share comparison exports and my explanatory text in schoolwork, teaching materials, research, presentations, articles, and social posts. You do not need to ask me each time.

  • Keep the whatstaller.com attribution and any source or artwork credits visible. If a format cannot preserve the image credit, include “Created with What’s Taller? | https://whatstaller.com” directly alongside it.
  • Keep estimates, fictional versions, and user-adjusted measurements clearly identified. Label changes you make so they are not mistaken for my original data.
  • Follow each third-party asset’s own license and credit requirements. My permission covers only rights I can grant; it does not clear every character, likeness, trademark, photograph, or other third-party work in an export.

These permissions do not license my protected site code, interface artwork, brand identity, or protected catalog compilation for republication as a competing service. They do not authorize selling isolated artwork, stock-asset packs, merchandise, or claiming an endorsement by me or a depicted subject. Contact me about uses outside these permissions.

Facts, public-domain material, statutory exceptions, and separately licensed material remain subject to their own legal status. I do not claim ownership of a measurement, the idea of height comparison, or someone else’s open-source software.

3. Measurements and illustrations

I provide references where available, but heights can depend on the measurement method, date, pose, included base, or fictional continuity. Estimated and custom values are not verified measurements. A comparison’s scale reflects its entered values; it does not prove those values or the anatomical accuracy of an illustration.

Some artwork is AI-generated and interpretive. It is not an official franchise render, photograph, engineering drawing, or surveyed outline. Check the original source before citing a fact in assessed or published work. Do not use this tool for engineering, medical, navigation, safety, or other decisions requiring certified measurements. See sources and artwork credits.

4. Fiction, real people, and third-party rights

Names and depictions identify the subjects being compared. They do not imply affiliation, authorization, or endorsement by a studio, author, athlete, celebrity, manufacturer, or other rights holder. Third-party rights remain with their respective holders.

Educational intent, attribution, or AI generation does not automatically make a use lawful. Whether an exception such as fair use applies depends on the particular use and applicable law. I cannot give you a blanket license to third-party characters or likenesses.

5. Respect the service and other people

Do not attempt unauthorized access, introduce malicious code, bypass security controls, disrupt availability, impersonate others, or use my service unlawfully. Do not copy or redistribute protected site technology without permission, except where a separate license or applicable law permits it. Ordinary browser operation, accessibility tools, and legitimate research remain welcome.

Keep personal names, contact information, and other sensitive information out of shared comparisons. Anyone with a shared link can open and forward it. I may restrict abusive access or remove or correct content when reasonably needed to protect the service or address rights concerns.

6. Advertising and external links

Advertising and affiliate links may support future versions of the service. The current version does not load advertising or affiliate tracking scripts. Paid links will be identified where they appear. A link is not a guarantee of another site’s accuracy, safety, or products; its own terms and privacy practices apply. See my privacy policy.

7. Availability and responsibility

To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided as available, without warranties of uninterrupted availability, completeness, accuracy, or suitability for a particular purpose. I take reasonable care but cannot guarantee that every error, rights concern, or security risk has been eliminated.

To the extent permitted by law, I am not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable mandatory consumer rights or liability for fraud. Your own applicable legal protections continue to apply.

8. Questions, corrections, and changes

For permissions, factual corrections, privacy requests, or rights concerns: [email protected] or the contact page.

For a rights concern, identify the relevant subject or page, explain the right you believe is affected, and provide a way to reply. Do not send sensitive identification documents unless a verified process specifically requires them.

I may update these terms as the service changes and will show the revision date above. Changes apply prospectively; they do not withdraw permissions already granted for compliant copies of my own content. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions apply to the extent allowed by law.
