A little more perspective
The City of Colorado Springs describes Pikes Peak as a 14,115-foot mountain, equivalent mathematically to 4,302.252 meters. The whole-foot source does not establish millimeter measurement accuracy. This Copernicus section reaches approximately 4,299 meters in EGM2008. The surface may contain older summit structures and predates the visitor center opened in 2021; it is not a measurement to that building’s roof.
The local-relief view subtracts the lowest sampled point in this section: 2670.7 meters at 38.870556° latitude, -104.981389° longitude. This produces about 1,629 meters of relief within the stated boundary. It is not a universal mountain base, a route’s total ascent, or topographic prominence.
The rendered surface uses the public 2021 Copernicus release, primarily based on TanDEM-X observations from 2011–2015 with infill from other sources. It is a surface model rather than a current bare-earth survey. Neutral shading explains the geometry without claiming a snow season or photographic ground texture. No datum conversion or summit correction is applied.
