A little more perspective

Mexico’s Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources gives Pico de Orizaba, also called Citlaltépetl, as 5,636 meters in its January 2019 national-park reference. This Copernicus section reaches about 5,592 meters in EGM2008. Its boundary shows an upper portion of the volcanic edifice, with lower terrain omitted. The measured surface is not a reconstruction of the park’s full drainage basin or a current glacier survey.

The local-relief view subtracts the lowest sampled point in this section: 3084.0 meters at 19.021667° latitude, -97.218056° longitude. This produces about 2,508 meters of relief within the stated boundary. It is not a universal mountain base, a route’s total ascent, or topographic prominence.

The rendered surface uses the public 2021 Copernicus release, primarily based on TanDEM-X observations from 2011–2015 with infill from other sources. It is a surface model rather than a current bare-earth survey. Neutral shading explains the geometry without claiming a snow season or photographic ground texture. No datum conversion or summit correction is applied.
