A little more perspective
The USGS named-summit table records 14,162 feet for Mount Shasta from the 1986 Shasta quadrangle, approximately 4,316.6 meters. That dated mapped reference is distinct from this approximately 4,305-meter Copernicus surface. The mountain’s western subsidiary cone remains part of the surrounding terrain in the southern view; it is not assigned the main summit’s elevation.
The local-relief view subtracts the lowest sampled point in this section: 2037.8 meters at 41.377778° latitude, -122.144167° longitude. This produces about 2,267 meters of relief within the stated boundary. It is not a universal mountain base, a route’s total ascent, or topographic prominence.
The rendered surface uses the public 2021 Copernicus release, primarily based on TanDEM-X observations from 2011–2015 with infill from other sources. It is a surface model rather than a current bare-earth survey. Neutral shading explains the geometry without claiming a snow season or photographic ground texture. No datum conversion or summit correction is applied.
