A little more perspective
Sabah Parks lists Mount Kinabalu at 4,095 meters. This section selects Low’s Peak and reaches approximately 4,046 meters in EGM2008, about 69 meters from its identity coordinate. The narrow boundary excludes other high points on the broad summit plateau, so the image includes only part of the mountain’s upper slopes. The smooth surface cannot reproduce Low’s Peak’s finest granite features; the section minimum is not the start of the mountain’s rise.
The local-relief view subtracts the lowest sampled point in this section: 2682.9 meters at 6.083056° latitude, 116.566389° longitude. This produces about 1,363 meters of relief within the stated boundary. It is not a universal mountain base, a route’s total ascent, or topographic prominence.
The rendered surface uses the public 2021 Copernicus release, primarily based on TanDEM-X observations from 2011–2015 with infill from other sources. It is a surface model rather than a current bare-earth survey. Neutral shading explains the geometry without claiming a snow season or photographic ground texture. No datum conversion or summit correction is applied.
