A little more perspective
Hatam Chavari and colleagues’ EGU 2009 research abstract gives Damavand’s maximum elevation as 5,610 meters while describing a gravity, GPS and leveling profile to the summit. The Smithsonian Global Volcanism Program lists a different 5,670-meter reference. This Copernicus section reaches about 5,599 meters in EGM2008. The published disagreement remains visible; neither value is used to stretch the raster or claim an unverified conversion between reference systems.
The local-relief view subtracts the lowest sampled point in this section: 2654.5 meters at 35.925556° latitude, 52.170000° longitude. This produces about 2,944 meters of relief within the stated boundary. It is not a universal mountain base, a route’s total ascent, or topographic prominence.
The rendered surface uses the public 2021 Copernicus release, primarily based on TanDEM-X observations from 2011–2015 with infill from other sources. It is a surface model rather than a current bare-earth survey. Neutral shading explains the geometry without claiming a snow season or photographic ground texture. No datum conversion or summit correction is applied.
