Island Peak / Imja Tse: terrain elevation and local relief
Island Peak / Imja Tse uses an approximately 6,132-meter surface estimate in EGM2008 from Copernicus GLO-30. The bounded terrain section has about 1,142 meters of local relief above its lowest sampled point. Published summit surveys are separate references.

A little more perspective
Nepal’s 2025 mountaineering facts lists Imja Tse at 6,160 meters and supplies the coordinate used to locate this section. Its 2023 permit table used 6,165 meters. The approximately 6,132-meter Copernicus maximum is a separate EGM2008 surface estimate. The section includes southern approach slopes; its minimum is not a named base camp. The large display image does not restore fine snow or rock features missing from the elevation grid.
The local-relief view subtracts the lowest sampled point in this section: 4989.9 meters at 27.900000° latitude, 86.933889° longitude. This produces about 1,142 meters of relief within the stated boundary. It is not a universal mountain base, a route’s total ascent, or topographic prominence.
The rendered surface uses the public 2021 Copernicus release, primarily based on TanDEM-X observations from 2011–2015 with infill from other sources. It is a surface model rather than a current bare-earth survey. Neutral shading explains the geometry without claiming a snow season or photographic ground texture. No datum conversion or summit correction is applied.
