A little more perspective
Grossglockner High Alpine Road’s mountain reference gives Grossglockner as 3,798 meters. This bounded Copernicus surface reaches about 3,657 meters in EGM2008. The initial wider window selected a higher raster sample on neighboring Glocknerwand; the northern boundary was reduced to isolate the intended summit area. The remaining numerical gap is prominent because coarse surface sampling cannot preserve this sharp summit at survey precision. The summit cross is not added to the mountain reference.
The local-relief view subtracts the lowest sampled point in this section: 1487.0 meters at 47.025278° latitude, 12.632500° longitude. This produces about 2,170 meters of relief within the stated boundary. It is not a universal mountain base, a route’s total ascent, or topographic prominence.
The rendered surface uses the public 2021 Copernicus release, primarily based on TanDEM-X observations from 2011–2015 with infill from other sources. It is a surface model rather than a current bare-earth survey. Neutral shading explains the geometry without claiming a snow season or photographic ground texture. No datum conversion or summit correction is applied.
