A little more perspective

The National Park Service describes the June 2015 GPS survey of the south summit and its 20,310-foot snow-and-ice surface elevation, about 6,190.5 meters when converted with the exact foot-to-meter factor. That survey superseded the older 20,320-foot reference. This section’s Copernicus surface maximum is about 6,180 meters in EGM2008; both mountain names remain searchable.

The local-relief view subtracts the lowest sampled point in this section: 2669.6 meters at 63.038056° latitude, -150.898333° longitude. This produces about 3,510 meters of relief within the stated boundary. It is not a universal mountain base, a route’s total ascent, or topographic prominence.

The rendered surface uses the public 2021 Copernicus release, primarily based on TanDEM-X observations from 2011–2015 with infill from other sources. It is a surface model rather than a current bare-earth survey. Neutral shading explains the geometry without claiming a snow season or photographic ground texture. No datum conversion or summit correction is applied.
