A little more perspective

The selected endpoints are the Main Falls lip and the receiving water below that section. UNESCO lists different values for other sections, including Devil's Cataract, Rainbow Falls and Eastern Cataract. The broad site's maximum-depth figure is not substituted for Main Falls.

The cutout bounds this section rather than claiming a single height for the entire 1.7-kilometer curtain. Its basalt face and falling water show the vertical drop; the river's elevation above sea level is excluded.
