How long is a parasaurolophus walkeri?

A PeerJ study compares juvenile Parasaurolophus with the 9.45-meter estimated length of the Parasaurolophus walkeri holotype, ROM 768. This scene uses that adult reference.

Interpretive living-form reconstruction. Horizontal extended snout-to-tail outline represents the selected fossil-based length; soft tissues, colors and fine surface geometry are uncertain.

A little more perspective

The 2013 study by Farke and colleagues distinguishes the small juvenile RAM 14000 from the estimated 9.45-meter total length of ROM 768, citing the earlier holotype reconstruction. This is an adult specimen estimate, not the size of the juvenile described in that paper.

The long crest projects backward above the neck while the tail extends farther behind the body. The horizontal comparison uses snout-to-tail length, so crest height does not become the selected measurement. The illustration’s quadrupedal posture, soft tissues and coloration are restored interpretations.
