A little more perspective
WWF gives an 11-foot shoulder height for its African elephant reference, about 3.35 meters. The top of an animal’s head can sit above or below its shoulders depending on posture.
This reconstruction is set to a 3.5-meter overall height so the comparison does not silently relabel shoulder height as head height. Change the assumption and keep the estimate label when sharing.
Quick facts
A 3.5-meter overall pose is an illustrative adult reference. WWF lists an 11-foot shoulder height, about 3.35 meters; that shoulder measurement is not identical to the highest point of this reconstruction.
For a presentation or a research note, include the subject, the measurement definition, and the assumed measurement. A picture alone cannot explain those choices. The comparison guide explains how to export an image and its source notes together.
Sources and measurement notes
The 3.5-meter illustration is an assumption; WWF’s 11-foot figure describes shoulder height.
