A little more perspective

Daikanmitsuji, the temple responsible for the monument, gives 100 meters above ground and 21 meters below ground. The catalog follows that above-ground definition, rather than treating the underground foundation as visible height or calling this a figure-only measurement.

The raised right hand holds a jewel, while the left holds a water vessel. The illustration includes the lotus and entrance base. At the catalog values, this complete monument is 20 meters shorter than Ushiku Daibutsu with its base.
