A little more perspective

The Bureau of Reclamation defines the 726.4-foot height from foundation rock to the roadway on the crest. This is structural height, rather than the exposed face above a changing reservoir or downstream water level. The many metric decimals come only from unit conversion.

The bounded structural view includes the dam down to its foundation endpoint. Reservoir water, canyon elevation and the neighboring highway bridge are excluded. Water depth can change without changing this engineering dimension.
