A little more perspective
This entry selects the source’s metric height for the recumbent sculpture, from its base to the top of its head. The imperial parenthesis on that page is inconsistent with the metric number; I retain the stated metric value and do not use the erroneous conversion.
The lion’s long body and extended forepaws remain horizontal. Height does not follow the statue’s length, and the surrounding quarry enclosure is not part of this cutout. The AERA Sphinx Project supplies the archaeological context for distinguishing the sculpture from its enclosure.
