A little more perspective
The Star Wars Databank’s X-wing entry lists a 13.4-meter length and includes A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. This record selects the original T-65 depiction; it does not substitute the later T-70 design.
The long nose, cockpit and engine assembly define the comparison axis. S-foil position can change the visible spread of the craft without changing its listed overall length. The scene retains that distinction and treats the smaller mechanical details as an illustration.
