A little more perspective
NASA’s technical-data appendix distinguishes the 56.14-meter stack height from the orbiter’s length and wingspan. The comparison uses the upright stack, as configured for launch.
The orange external tank and twin boosters make the silhouette much taller than an orbiter resting on a runway. Switching between those views would require a different measurement.
