A little more perspective
Wētā’s Making Smaug the Magnificent production video states that the dragon is 130 meters long at about 00:39. This record selects that model reference for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013). It is a length, not a standing height or wingspan, and does not apply to Tolkien’s book illustration or every pose in the film.
The side-view cutout extends the tail along the horizontal comparison axis and folds the wings against the body. Its overall snout-to-tail extent represents the reported length; the detailed anatomy and the height of the raised neck remain an illustration.
