A little more perspective

Lloyd’s Register Foundation’s maritime history gives Seawise Giant a length overall of 458.45 meters after an additional cargo section was inserted. The record therefore refers to the enlarged supertanker, rather than its shorter original hull. The artwork shows the historical Seawise Giant appearance with the long cargo deck intact.

The cargo deck accounts for most of the bow-to-stern extent, while the accommodation block sits near the stern. Later names for the same vessel include Jahre Viking and Knock Nevis; those names should not be mistaken for additional ships in this comparison. The length reference remains separate from draft, beam and deadweight tonnage.
