A little more perspective
Discussing the sandworm that rises to confront Paul and Jessica in Dune (2021), supervising sound editor Mark Mangini recalls director Denis Villeneuve describing it as a 400-meter-long hollow tube. This record selects that scene’s nominal production length. It is not a standing height, a mouth diameter or a claim that every worm in the books and films is the same size.
The illustration extends a complete worm along the horizontal comparison axis. The film normally conceals much of the creature beneath the sand, so the full tail, body taper and internal proportions are interpretive; only the overall selected length is calibrated.
