A little more perspective
Creative Bloq’s ILM production feature identifies the original live-action Optimus Prime model as 28 feet tall. Director Michael Bay also gives approximately 28 feet in his May 2007 set interview. The stored 8.5344 meters is an exact conversion of a rounded model reference.
The upright robot has a different comparison axis from its truck form. This cutout keeps the robot standing with its arms lowered; the truck panels and exposed joints remain interpretive details.
