Grumman’s NASA-hosted Apollo News Reference lists 22 feet 11 inches high with the landing legs extended. The 275-inch value converts mathematically to 6.985 meters without establishing millimeter accuracy. Landing-gear compression and lunar terrain can change the actual landed attitude; this reference uses a level baseline.

The descent and ascent stages both contribute to the legs-extended height. After the ascent stage leaves the surface, the descent stage and landing gear remain behind, so that remnant would require a different measurement. The level reference also excludes the long contact probes beneath the pads, which did not define the settled footpad baseline.
