A little more perspective

Antonov’s historical aircraft page lists the An-225 at 18.2 meters high and 84 meters long. The reference selects the intact cargo aircraft with normal landing gear extended and no external payload. It does not depict the wreckage or a proposed rebuilt aircraft.

The An-225’s selected 18.2-meter tail height is below the 747-8’s 19.4-meter listing, although Antonov gives the An-225 a longer 84-meter fuselage. This illustrates why a large cargo aircraft can be longer without having the tallest tail. An external load above the fuselage would create another configuration.
